If you want reliability and whatnot, get a quartz something. Automatics tend to need to be serviced, especially if they have a lot of comications ("complications" doesnt mean "problems", it just means it has more "stuff" like sub-dials and such... Think Milgause(sp?) with zero complications vs. Rolex Daytona with 3 subdials.
However I did accidentally drive my ex bro in laws car over my first Rolex. (If taken the watch off checking air pressure in a back tire n his wife didn't feel comfortable backing the car outta the garage with it being a manual/lowered/shortthrw shifter/stiff one-off clutch. And having only about 4" of wiggle room on each side of the car.. So I backed it out for her. Totally forgot about the watch....only damage was a few scratches. Rolex(&most swiss) have sapphire crystal "glass" that will not break. Scratches buffed/polished out with a $40 cleaning.
