Look closer, that isn't what he said.

Ronnie literally made the #2 bodybuilder on the planet look like an amateur by comparison. And everyone who placed third and beyond were not particularly close to Jay.
To elaborate, Ronnie next to Jay [not Dennis] looked like he was a pro compared to an amateur. I don't mean that to be disparaging to Jay, but it was something like a 32-lb weight advantage on a 5'10.5" frame compared to 5'8.5" frame.
After Jay, I don't think Dexter and Dennis, in 3rd and 4th place respectively, looked particularly close to Jay.
While I do think Phil dominated at this past Mr. Olympia, I don't think it was the combination of size and conditioning. It was more a matter of conditioning combined with roundness and fullness. I just don't think he was dwarfing the other guys in the same way. The clear winner to be sure, but he was not dominant like Ronnie was in 2003.
Back to Dennis James - 2003 was most likely his best year.
