Not that I am a champion of all things coach, because he puts his foot in his mouth a lot with his posting of threads without reading them thoroughly, but how is this a backfire? Why can one not have a favorable opinion of both Trump and Obama? Why does ones favorable opinion of Trump have to mean they dislike Obama?

I call it a backfire because as he stands as the anti-Obama champion, he read off a poll in hopes of praising Trump and showing his favorable ratings while the same exact poll gives Obama a better rating. Funny thing is, any poll that shows coaches view in a negative light is usually disqualified by coach as invalid. So this poll that he obviously agrees with actually shines a positive light on Obama.
