IFBB Pro Mark Antonek passed away.
« on: January 21, 2017, 03:32:39 PM »
Mark earned his pro card by winning the overall in the Masters 40+ category in the IFBB North American Championships.  Mark had suffered from Parkinson's disease for several years.

From Facebook:

"Our amazing brother, Mark Antonek passed away in his sleep. We will be having a memorial service in Tampa next weekend(Jan 27-29), and one in New Jersey the weekend after (Feb 3-5) once arrangements have been made. Thank you all for your kind words and support."

Mark was born in 1965, and I believe he was 51 at the time of his death.

Sad...way too young to pass especially from Parkinsons.

I don't know his age for the above photo but he had a great physique no matter what age. RIP

And if he wasn't, what is happening to him now?

Infinite torment is acceptable to a person who committed a finite number of sins over the course of his lifetime?

Have you ever eaten magic mushrooms and been lost in your psyche for a while?  Do you really think something like that is fair to make someone go through...forever?

eternal torment is as 'fair' as anything else in this brilliant, bizarre existence...

Have you ever eaten magic mushrooms?

yes

I hadn't thought about it that way.

I guess life isn't fair.  That wouldn't be fair either, but then again - nothing is fair, I suppose.

yes

doesn't it seem like "life" is the likely source of more torment than "not life" ?

seems weird to me for man to not only invent god but also decide that their god spends eternity tormenting most of it's own creation

Most, being something like 70-85% of the world's population - set to burn alive for eternity.

I also love how there is no in between.  Either eternity in paradise or eternal damnation.  :-\

Is Parkinson's mainly genetic?

Yes.

Gene defects play a major role in the pathogenesis of degenerative disorders of the nervous system. In fact, it has been the very knowledge gained from genetic studies that has allowed the elucidation of the molecular mechanisms underlying the etiology and pathogenesis of many neurodegenerative disorders. In this review, we discuss the current status of genetic epidemiology of the most common neurodegenerative diseases: Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease, Lewy body dementia, frontotemporal dementia, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Huntington disease, and prion diseases, with a particular focus on similarities and differences among these syndromes.
