Activist walking barefoot across US is fatally struck by SUV

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. –  A Rhode Island native walking barefoot across the U.S. to raise awareness about climate change has been struck and killed on a Florida highway.

Police say 33-year-old Mark Baumer was walking along the shoulder of U.S. Highway 90 in Walton County on Sunday when a driver lost control and hit him. Baumer was pronounced dead at the scene.

Baumer was also raising money for a nonprofit group called the FANG Collective that opposes the natural gas industry. FANG stands for Fighting Against Natural Gas.

The group wrote on Facebook that Baumer was a "talented poet and artist with an ability to tap into the human experience with his work."

Baumer had raised more than $14,000 since starting Oct. 13.

What's wrong with using natural gas? Don't people have the right to warm their houses in the winter?
What's his solution? Cut trees and burn firewood?

Note: Bodybuilding related because Arnold used to workout barefoot.

Raising only $14k in three months? Pathetic.

I don't gloat though that he's dead. Pretty sad shit some idiot was probably texting and he got run over. Kind of like Bruce Jenner when he killed that person. What ever happened with that?

I'm not sure if Bruce ever got charged...phucked up country sometimes.  When the pickle smoocher commits the crime, the wheels (see what I did there) of justice move more slowly than when the pickle smoocher is the victim.

Liar Priest chilidogged booty.

They should spank black kids harder in school; they've tried everything else.

Relying on non-renewable sources of energy is retarded, it's self evident it's retarded as it's not sustainable by definition. The best we can hope for is delaying a switch to renewables, that's the best case scenario, it will have to happen again by definition.

It's so short sighted it's painful to hear.

That doesn't mean stopping, it means the switch needs to happen sooner rather than later obviously.

What is retarded is walking around the country as an attention whore thinking that anyone with any real skin in the game is going to give a flying fuck.

Not cool to celebrate innocent man's death. He didn't do anything wrong.

I have devoted huge part of my modest income to fighting for climate change; I have had V8's in a land where gasoline costs up to 1.6 EUR per liter (pure madness). I mock people driving hybrids or small engine cars IRL. And so on.
But I'm not happy if someone who has devoted his life to opposite gets tragically killed.

May the man rest in peace.

Yes, i am all about alternatives, but if the resources are there and available, is it that harmfull to use them? I believe its better than deforestation or farming for fuel.
