Tattoos used to be a way to stand apart from the crowd.  Now they are used as a way to fit in with the crowd.   Beards are becoming the same way now.

Nailed it. When I was in high school and college the only ones with tattoos were some military guys and bikers. Now when I go to the beach and I look at a family they all have them. Grandpa, Grandma, Mom, Dad and teen age kids are all tatted up.  I don't know how they are considered cool anymore.  The beard thing is another thing that started out cool and unique.  It's just played out.

I have a tiger on my cheat/anterior delt, & an almost lower leg sleeve. Dragon, Buddha, and Chinese characters from the Art of War (the book ,not the movie genius) down my shin that was done old school-style, without a tattoo-gun.
