No, they are completely aware of the meaning.

The issue has more to do with contempt and ignorance than anything else. What many "liberals" truly believe is that radical Muslims are willing to embrace Western ideals and that the only thing standing in between are conservative values/people. Meaning they are looking at a multi-faceted monumental issue from a left vs. right spectrum.

Real issue is that most Muslims don't give a single flying fuck about Western values. Their intent is on living under Muslim rule and that's that. It's not that Islam is under attack, it's that Islam IS the problem: Muslims are UNABLE to live among people of other faiths because of their backwards ideals. That's why they are in constant conflict with other religions.

Anyhow, if you want to shut a "liberal" up, all you have to do is point to Belgium, or a country that went the full liberal route and paid the consequences of believing these stone age filth.
