Wasn't Bucci related to the Mentzers?
I read somewhere that when he was a baby young Mike and Ray just dropped him in front of a foster gym...
He nearly died through drink and steroids....

Sergio appeared in a lot of different levels shape through the years. A few were outrageous and for all time. Some years were just great.
Sergio and Phil have similar arms. Here is a pic of him in better condition.

there was a story on how he got a Muscle and fitness cover shot, guy was in hospital through drinking too much mixed with long term gear use (liver issues) Weider told him if he got back in shape he would put him on the cover.

So really Weider jeopardised his health with that promise.

So far ahead of his time. I know this is an arm thread but those quads are insane for the time!

i don't know about related but they were all from pennsylvania so they probably knew each other.. bucci was in a pic at a franco c seminar depicted in the 3 more reps book series.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I trained with Joe Bucci in his home garage gym, he competed in the AAU. He was in the Tim Belknap and Benny Podda error...He loved heavy cheat curls for his biceps. He tried acting on the TV show Hunter. And was a spokes person for the Marina Pacific Hotel, he also was a writer for a Natural Bodybuilding Magazine.  When his father died he got very unhealthy with liver disease from alcohol abuse....I went to school with his sister Dodi.  He does much more cardio now, very little weight training.  Last I heard he is living in CA and is about 190 lean pounds, but healthy...

A lot of you fools dont understand what is needed to have the best arms, you need a complete package impressive biceps, triceps and forearms if you lack one then you cannot be considered  in the best arms category, now if you look at roelly he has biceps, triceps and forearms the complete package.

Damn! Those are some sick triceps on Roelly!  :o :o :o

There was better than him there. He had no fdb or rdb to speak of, how someone can win without the bread and butter of poses is ridiculous.

Hahaha, how bad was the competition that he won the Olympia looking like that?

Roelly's arms might be the "biggest" but I wouldn't call them the best.

Roelly's arm is a classic example in showing how the triceps are what give the arm mass. Whereas Arnold's arm is a  classic example on how biceps give the arm a "wow" factor and the illusion of mass.
