The Great Southern Trendkill was epic as well. Listen to the outro on Floods... the jamming grooves....damn. Vulgar had some great stuff too, but I prefer the Driven and Trendkill for the crazy heaviness. Remember when Driven came out? The very first track Strength Beyond Strength knocked your fucking head off... At about :50 in, Anselmo yells "I'm bone brain and cock, deep down stronger than all" and then that fucking jamming riff with the ride cymbals kicking in... Love that shit.
So, not going to disagree with this assessment. That album ripped your face off right from the beginning and didn't really let up. Love Slaughtered, Shedding Skin, etc......
But overall, I feel Vulgar is better. The first five songs are all excellent, and if you like heavy, the riff in A New Level is about as good as it gets. Regular People is great, and Hollow's shift is fantastic. All subjective though.
As for lyrics, I always liked:
Then so many times,
You practice in the mirror,
To be just like me,
But you just can't see,
You ain't got the balls, son.
