The roots of the German surname Sipes can be traced to the Old Germanic word "Siebmacher," meaning "sieve maker." The surname is occupational in origin, and was most likely originally borne by someone who held this position.Dec 14, 2016

A strong guy that trained in his garage with a full time job. In my view he looked better than the bloated oil bags of today that couldn't run a 10 minute mile without collapsing on the ground.

Didn't Dave Draper say that Sipes was built like a pile of rocks, you don't hear things like that any more

Sick forearms.

Casey Viator and Mike Mentzer had the sickest forearms (so did Lee Priest)

Chuck would work a full day as a logger in the woods, a task that would drop the average man. He would then hit the gym in the evening for his massive weight training. Chuck was an animal. I read he committed suicide when he was unable to hike in the woods and do other physical activities that he loved, due to health issues.

From what I recall from his obit, Sipes was depressed due to his divorce and attempted to take his own life but only damaged his wrists/hands so that he was no longer able to paint which he truly enjoyed.  My memory is failing on this but I believe he then hung himself.

Divorce destroys men.  In his prime, Sipes was capable of near 600 pounds in the bench press which is impressive at any bodyweight but I think he was in the area of 220 lbs. at the time.  His squat and deadlift were also quite respectable.

Not exactly true, but he had a lot of friends in the industry, so they put a better face on it. Sipes found himself in an affair with a younger woman, and it wrecked his marriage, and caused a rift in his family. That lead him into a depression, and he hanged himself after trying to deal with it.

Moderate volume for the most part, nothing too odd. These two articles should give you an idea -
