Squatting and deadlifting with lower back sciatic pain

I am currently suffering from sciatic pain in the lower back and right butt cheek, most people would use machines because they think it will help but it actually makes your pain worst in the long term because your body is in an unnatural position, when you have this pain stay away from leg machines and ab crunches, leg raises etc, I start my workout with light cardio, stretching then lower back raises on the floor then different kind of planks this gets me warm up, then I start squatting light and work my way up, the important points, your form has to be textbook perfect if not you will regret it, I still go heavy up to 8 reps on the squat and deadlift and so far I have no problems, dont let anybody tell you that because you have pain you cant squat and deadlift.

you dont get sciatic in your lower back you fucking retard.

The majority of the pain is in the butt and you also feel it in the leg a bit, but some of it is in the lower back on the right side about the glutes, this is what sciatic pain is so you just embarrass yourself again talking about shit that you know nothing about.

Buy this, adjust the chain to where it's really short, hook a dumbbell to it, and then do deep squats(@$$ to grass).  Start with a light dumbbell, with proper form, then gradually increase the weight.

I endured the same problems and pain.

A better approach is to heed some advice from the Olympian legend Dorian Yates.

I used to do traditional, full barbell squats and they worked fine .
Problem was, they were a constant source of nagging injury.
The last straw was a hip injury ,so, I switched exercises.

I've been doing hack squats and smith machine squats for years now.
The experience made me realize there are no REQUIRED exercises for growth.
Every bodybuilder needs to experiment and do what works with minimal risk of injury.




Smith machine and hack squats put a lot of excess stress on the knees, what I have discovered is if you warm up properly use a belt and textbook form and dont go too heavy the pain wont bother you when you squat and deadlift.

Leg Press- 6-8 sets,heavy with high reps
Hyperextensions-4 x 20 with very little rest between sets

I've been having lower back pain and hadn't squatted forever :-[
Started squatting again 2 months ago and my lower back has been feeling better.

are you sure it's not piriformis instead of sciatica? how tight are your psoas? that's usually the culprit with me

The piriformis and sciatica are lock together, once you have piriformis pain you can irritate the sciatic nerve in the glute  and end up with sciatic symptoms so if you want to get technical I guess you could call it piriformis sciatica pain.

I have an extensive injury from improper exercise technique, genetics and or work to my l5/s1 disc. The disc is essentially gone (it leaked out) and the vertebrae are grinding on each other. I have been in a world of chronic pain for the last 5 years with no sign of abating.
Do yourself a favour, stop exercising, let it heal, maybe use pharm qulity hgh if you can for a whole year. I would stop squating with weights. Use only your bodyweight and a Swiss ball as support and get somebody with knowledge to show you how to squat properly. If you want bigger legs, increase your AAS, food and squat reps and you'll be golden.

From a lower back injury you will feel pain in your butt, and in one or both legs. Usually it's the front thigh going around to your calf and down to the foot sometimes. You have a disc compressing the nerve but you have to go for at least an X-Ray (I'd do MRI) to confirm.

bethere is not right he is a dumb twat, the pain is in the glutes not the lower back I do sometimes feel a little twinge in the lower back on the right about the glutes but 90 percent of the pain is in the glute, it is a combination of piriformis and sciatic pain, a getbigger told me about the tennis ball trick for the glutes I am going to buy a tennis ball and see if it works.

For me, it always hurts right when it goes in. Does not feel pleasant at all. Sort of a deep stinging sensation.

However, leave the cock in your ass, very shortly the pain goes away entirely. Once the pain leaves, then your partner can start to pump your ass.

Sciatic pain typically persists for 8 weeks before leaving - and then you have relief typically until you trigger it again


Perhaps adapt a new stretching and training routine

Look dude, I suffered from severe sciatica for decades AFTER blowing out my L-5 deadlifting.
Like most meat heads, I was stubborn and refused to eliminate the root causes.
I assumed I could do the tennis ball therapy, chiropractic,  stretching, etc

In recent years, I gave up barbell squats, dead lifts and standing overhead presses .
That helped, but I didn't become "pain free" until I quit hard running too.

Now, I have very few back problems or sciatic nerve pain.

I'd advise you to do the same, but , I refused to listen until AFTER I endured years of sciatic nerve pain.


You know something interesting that I notice about pain, when you are active it doesn't bother you that much, years ago I had some knee issues and I was squatting on a regular basis and it didn't bother me that much, then I took a break from the gym and was sitting down all day and my knees started to hurt real bad.

For the majority of his Olympia wins he used the leg press and hacks for is legs. He dropped smith squats.

I already told you that its a combination of sciatica and piriformis pain, here is the thing you know nothing about bodybuilding, nutrition and the human body which is mind boggling since you have been lifting for over 25 years, I would say you are useless but we need somebody to shovel dirt .
