Making competent robots is a goal for many areas.

Assembly-line first and foremost, but also as Soldiers in wars.

Robots can work at an assembly-line for much longer periods of time than normal people, and they never complain, so its more economical to use robots, as long as the robots themselves work correctly.

As defusing bombs or as soldiers is another area they can be used, since you will not lose any human life (on your side).

I am sure many look forward to being able to field Robots as Police (very ungrateful line of work) or as Fireman.

Imagine having functional Robots working as Police or Guards during a rally / demonstration / riot or whatnot.

At first, they could be remote-controlled by human(s) situated at a safe place, but the primary future goal is to be able to give them AI, and being able to handle situations correctly by themselves.

Robots are the Future.
