Hopefully this leads to Independent Commission

let's take this out of the hands of Congress

Adam Schiff: Is Devin Nunes Going to Chair an ‘Independent Investigation’ or ‘Act as a Surrogate’?

After House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes held two press conferences and briefed President Donald Trump over his findings that Trump transition team members’ communications were “incidentally collected,” committee ranking member Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) held his own presser to highlight what he knew.

Having already released a statement expressing his concerns over the way Nunes shared this information, Schiff slammed the chairman over his close political relationship with Trump and how it hampers the committee’s investigation into Russia and the president’s campaign.

“The chairman will need to decide whether he is the chairman of an independent investigation into conduct which includes allegations of potential coordination between the Trump campaign and the Russians,” Schiff stated. “Or he is going to act as a surrogate of the White House because he cannot do both.”

He further added that he learned about all of this the same way the press did and that it “does underscore the the importance of an independent commission.”

I've been saying it for weeks, but the republicans involved were going to make sure that investigation  was inconclusive one way or another.

I was home eating lunch and watched this comment by Schiff

Quote
Then Schiff went on Meet the Press Daily, where Chuck Todd asked him about statements by former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper that there was no evidence of collusion between the Trump team and Russia. Schiff disagreed with Clapper.

“I don't think it was deliberate on the director’s part, but all I can tell you is reviewing the evidence that I have, I don't think you can conclude that at all, far from it,” Schiff said.

A surprised Todd asked Schiff to concede that any suggestion of collusion was circumstantial evidence at best.

“Actually, no, Chuck,” Schiff said. “I can tell you that the case is more than that. And I can't go into the particulars, but there is more than circumstantial evidence now I will say that there is evidence that is not circumstantial, and is very much worthy of investigation.”

Like I said yesterday...

Everything you see going on, from these hearings to crap like this is one big political circus against Trump. Granted he needs to keep mouth shut at times but overall this is all political.

Nunes supposedly apologizes to the intelligence committee
http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/23/politics/devin-nunes-reaction-house-intelligence-committee-congress/index.html

what he did was insane

try to imagine if  the intelligence committee were investigating president Obama (when he was  still in office) and the Democrat chair of the committee received information and instead of sharing it with his  co-chair or the full committee instead took it to Obama and then gave a press conference.

This would be THE ONLY story on Faux News

Oddly, this story about Nunes doing this  (and also his apology to his committee) are nowhere on Faux News

Also keep in mind that Nunes was on Trumps transition team (which is part of the investigation of the intelligence committee)

While it seems to be a hatchet job on Trump, what Nunes did should get him kicked off the committee and to be honest, I'm shocked he doesn't have some kind of charge or at least get him censured.

So much for country over party or politics.

What are the rules/laws on this? It says he met with Paul Ryan first, then President Trump/White House...

Maybe he has to get permission from Speaker first?

MAYBE WE CAN GET RID OF PAUL RYAN?!

That's a good question. I seriously have no idea the rules on this part... I would have to do some more research. I've never been a shady congressman, so I wouldn't have a clue on how to act like one.

it's protocol and also common sense

this info shouldn't even be public at this point (committee is still in the process of investigating) and sharing it with the person being investigated is crazy

the speculation is the Ryan set up Nunes because he (Ryan) wants this taken out of the hands of Congress (hence out of his hands) and given to a independent commission.

that's the only thing that makes sense unless Ryan is an idiot too (which he doesn't seem to be)

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes on Thursday said he was right to tell the White House before committee members that he had new evidence suggesting potentially improper surveillance of President Trump and associates.

"Because it was going to be so politically charged, I just decided look, at the end of the day, I have a responsibility to inform the White House," Nunes said. "We oversee the agencies, and what I saw in those reports concerned me enough that [the president] should be able to read those."

The House Intelligence chairman, a California Republican, said in an interview with the Washington Examiner that Trump deserved to know that communications by him and his White House transition team were monitored and collected by U.S. intelligence leading up to his Jan. 20 inauguration.

Nunes also made clear that he had not apologized to Democratic members of the Intelligence Committee for keeping them in the dark. Nunes said that he didn't want Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the committee's top Democrat, or his colleagues, publicly sandbagging him before he presented his findings.

"I still think I made the right decision," he added.
