There are many reasons.
Some men overreact whenever they are around gay or bi men who make their attraction to men visible because it reminds them of their own impulses that they are trying to repress. They feel threatened or exposed so, in order to alleviate the anxiety or feeling of exposure they overreact by bashing homosexuality and exaggerating heterosexual attraction/identity.
Good point, I knew a guy in high school. Very jock clique, talked about how many hoes he banged, Etc. Years later, I find out via Facebook, that dude is super gay. I don't mean normal guy that just likes other men. I meant stereotype flaming Melvin Goodrum gay.
