Yes, any substance that alters perception has the potential to hurt anyone or another. But alcohol kills way more people than weed and I don't see Republicans calling for a ban of alcohol.

And just remember those numbers are only for deaths. Alcohol hurts millions and destroys families. I don't think marijuana is anything good either but alcohol is horrible. What doesn't get talked about is how widely alcohol is abused. You can go to any bar and watch people get served till they are absolutely smashed then watch them dive away. It's actually pretty fucked up and it's one of the double standards of our society.
