We owned a a dog in the past but we did not have enough time for it so he began to eat "de
deurposten". Thats when we had to find a other owner.

I had to put my boy down about 8 months ago, he wasn't even 3 yet, I'm still very depressed

That sad - tough to deal with. Empathise with you.
Had my 13yr young Dalmatian go last year - devastated.

If you do get a dog, please adopt/don't shop.

The best dogs I've ever had have either been strays or adopted from SPCA.

This is so very true.
Took in a rescue crossbreed Akita - he had been kicked & stamped on !! Bastards.
Had him a year - He's Fantastic goes everywhere with us - Even coming to Spain
With us I'm driving there. He's a show stopper every time we go out with him.
Never know a dog attract so much attention.
50kg White Fur - He looks like a bear.
Love him.

Japanese dogs are beautiful. I would love to have a Shiba inu, though they come with a price tag..

I've never had a dog growing up.  Decided to get a pup about a year ago.  Was a pain in  the ass for the first 6 months but I stuck with the training every day and spending as much time with her as I could.  Now at a year old she is the best thing in my life.  My little loyal pal.  She is essentially my shadow that follows me around everywhere. The adoration and love she shows me is unlike any other.  When I get home it's pure joy.  She runs around me, through my legs and presses up on me as hard as she can and then plops down and closes her eyes and naps because she can relax now that I'm home.

Seriously for those that don't have a dog, it's the best thing you can do in your life.  After one year I cannot imagine how my life can be the same without her in it.

Seems like you ditched having a Bf/husband in your life  for a dog.

Try looking through the various dog rescue sites
It's surprising how or why some very expensive dogs are in there.

No where will you find such a relationship and connection between a man and a dog. To me, it's almost divine. That it's God's way of showing that unconditional love exists.

It's one of my litmus tests. Never trust anyone that doesn't like dogs.

So basically you like the attention, adoration and affection. Sounds needy to me. Plus a dog shits everywhere and needs to be walked all the time.
People that love dogs usually don't do well with other humans. You may be the exception. I hate people that don't clean up their dog shit which is pretty much every dog owner.

So it's better to be ignored and despised? Human's have needs. Love it one of them. So what?

"People that love dogs usually don't do well with other humans."

Easily, the most baseless and moronic statement ever made of this board.

You confirm my belief regarding people that don't like dogs.

Divine? Yeah...I can see you feeling that way.

Never trust anyone that doesn't like dogs? Why. Elaborate on this statement. Whether you like dogs, cats, rabbits, iguanas doesn't define who you are as a person.

What an idiotic statement.

And I have not once stated whether I like dogs or do not like dogs but I sure can't stand most dog owners.

Dogs are cool but they never ever leave you alone and that gets really annoying after a while. It is kind of sad that we are literally their entire world, and that we have bred that to be so in them. Cats on the other hand don't give a shit. Sometimes they want to hang out, and sometimes they don't. Either way, they don't care really. And they bring you dead things that they've killed which is cool in a bit of a morbid way. I like both but I prefer cats over dogs.

"Idiotic statement"?

A person's likes and dislikes says very much about what kind of person they are.

Like I said, you confirm my litmus test.

Imagine if you could get this kind of affection from a human :o

You really can. People bitch about kids and women but they make a choice in the company they keep. There are amazing people out there if you open your eyes.

Dog's give you unconditional love which is nice to have but also the cheapest form of love.

A dog doesn't care if you are an Adolf Hitler or a Mother Teresa, if you feed him and are his "Master" he will be devoted to you.

Agree entirely. As GH15/Nasser always used to say "Dog's are our angels".
