'98 NOC Discussion
« on: April 05, 2017, 05:50:56 AM »
Everyone looked freaking great at this show, but Levrone especially. He was sharper than at the Olympia, and although I think he was ever so slightly bigger in '97 with better legs, this look is still mind-blowing.

Newman tried coming back at this show, but he had a really bad pec tear and was off his earlier form. Still looked good but the competition was insane.

holy shit how many fucking threads are you going to make about this show? it was held almost twenty years ago. you have made many threads about this contest already. I can guarantee you that the guys that competed in this contest dont waste there lives obsessing over this fucking show. you are like mike mentzer. he became obsessed with losing the 1980 Olympia and he never got over it. he lost his mind. but at least mentzer competed. you are just a nutty obsessed fan with no life

Porter was still hanging around too. A few old names came out of the woodwork for this one...

Newman actually came back a few months earlier at the Ironman, where I don't believe he had the issue with the pec.

Yes, I knew that... guess the post was worded poorly in that regard. Pretty sure he had the pec injury at the Ironman, though.

I was there. Ronnie and Kevin looked great. Ruhl was freaky. Buchannon got screwed. I was really looking forward to seeing Marko Savolainen, he was way off didn't come near the top 10.

Ronnie looked better than anyone in the show and won the contest. End of thread.

98 Night of Champions HD year Ronnie Coleman showed up and slammed the door on everybody else's hopes of winning the only beer that year. Ronnie was so good that year and came out of nowhere it seemed that I had completely forgotten about everybody else in that contest that year. Kev did look good.

After that show. I was looking forward to Flex showing up at the O the way he did at the Arnold. That obviously didn't happen and we know how Ronnie showed up.

Ronnie is Ronnie, but that's among the best BDB shots I've ever seen from Kev...

Doesn't look like a tear to me, looks like he's just down in size. Pecs look very flat but not torn.

98 was a weird year for Mr. Levrone, his chest looked smaller than every other year of his career

I recall you from MuscleMayhem years ago.  Were you a PT from Georgia?

Yeah I think I'm getting it confused with his 2001 showing, where it was definitely torn:

Plus he had that very defined separation on his pecs that looked like a tear from certain angles

Not from Georgia, though I prepared a number of guys from GA for their competitions back around that time.

Didn't know Porter was still competing at that time. Was never a fan of his.
