I have yet to hear ANYONE say the Orleans was acceptable.  Anyone who ever mentions the hotel situation always says the Mandalay was ten times better.  You stayed in the same place, hung out with, and partied with the athletes.  Shame they ended that.

Wait a minute - the Orleans was fine. It is definately not the Mandalay Bay Hotel or one of the huge hotels on the strip, but it was fine for the event. The Press Conference area was great, the Orleans Arena was new and got the fans closer to their seats, and the food wasn't bad there. In fact, we wound up eating a few times in the main cafe where almost the entire place was filled with competitors, fans, press, and many others. It was a blast.

And the room were much bigger than many of us thought. So, okay, it is not a top notch hotel, but don't say it is a dump either.  Damn, the hotels in New York city and the size of the rooms there make the Orleans look awesome...

The IFBB is not in trouble yet because they still have all the top athletes.  If that pendulum starts to swing though, the PDI can take off.  If you could watch the Olympia competitors either compete in an IFBB Olympia or PDI Olympia, which would you rather see?  Based on Wayne's past production of Olympias vs. AMI's current Olympias, there's no comparison.  The IFBB better hold their breath that the big names don't leave, because it's the athletes that are holding the IFBB together, certainly not their ability to produce shows.

Sponsors will also be a big factor in this.When the big sponsors see that PDI is flourishing and the ifbb is weakening, then they will turn to the PDI.That means even bigger prize money, better venues,more athletes,better coverage etc.
And who knows who Wayne is talking to as we speak.Wayne could gather 10 small companies to match one big companies sponsorship level.Alot of people for some reason does not have faith in the man that made the Olympia what it was.

I said it and stand by it.  18 months from the 05 Ironman was my original prediction.  I stand by it.  He's done with the IFBB and is ending his career as a PDI guy. After that, priest will represent the athletes as a high profile spokesman for the PDI movement.

Answer this for me: If MUSCLETECH decides to promote contests with PDI, what happens if Jay, Gustavo, Comier, Branch etc., because they are under Muscletech contracts, are REQUIRED to be at the shows to sign autographs and promote Muscletech? Would the IFBB fine them? IFBB doesn't pay their contracts so what happens?

Exactly.The ifbb are at their sponsors mercy.Just like any sporting federation.Supplement companies are not loyal to any federation.They think money.Its advertising to them.If the PDI causes a big enough stir and attracts a big enough audience, then Muscletech will want to get in on that market too.

No matter how nice the Mandalay Bay is and how bad the Orleans the fact is the supposedly biggest and most prestigious bodybuilding show in the world took a step backwards.  No matter how you sugar coat it, it went backwards.  And the fact is AMI did that.  The Mandalay Bay was booked through 2005 for the Olympia.  AMI came in wanted to change some things and try to get more for less and pay nothing for something, the Mandalay Bay did not (and didn't have to) move on their previous agreement.  So the Olympia was moved. 

I did not go to the show but how was the lighting at the Orleans and the props.  Cause all the lighting used in the previous Olympias and staging was left at the Mandalay Bay (for FREE) for AMI to use, yet they did not use it.  How stupid of a move was that.  So no matter how much ANYONE says the Orleans was fine and it was great...........IT WAS A STEP BACKWARD.  And the funny thing my condo is 3 blocks from the Orleans and I went there everyday.  I love playing there, they have the best movie theaters, and the restaurant that serves seafood there is awesome.    But, it is no Mandalay Bay.  I made all the t-shirts for the Olympia in 2000 and 2001 to, so I supported the Olympia before.  But to have the #1 BB show in the world at a hotel (off the strip) that is not in the top 5 at least is embarrassing.  That should tell you how AMI, IFBB and the Weiners are looking to improve BB.
