I figured if any Physicist would proclaim such a thing, that it would be Kaku.   He's one of the nuttier one's, and has been for most of his career.

Science is generally bullshit IMO.

Kaku is a science popularist, ie he is willing to say that which conservative physicists would correctly label as rampant speculation.

He is more of a businessman than a physicist.  I'm sure he is far wealthier than almost all other physicists.

But that is at the cost of his credibility.

What he does is positive, but it is essentially often more along the realms of science fiction storytelling.

And by the way, Coach.  He most certainly is not specifically talking about your god.  Furthermore, all physicists will cop to the truth that there is a nonzero chance of this universe being created by a god.  In fact, if the truth is that all possible outcomes have/are/will occurred/occurring/occur, there will be universes where the christian god DOES exist and IS as ridiculously implausible as he seems to any logical, evidence based thinker.

A localised point of intense gravity that eventually evaporates away.

If that is True then the Musli god allah & the 72 virgins exists / existed / will exist.  ::)

Also the Devil & hell & any other nonsense someone wants to dream up & say
Is / will / has happened.

If physicists believe & postulate such rubbish, Got to question if they've gone mad.
Supposedly the divide between Brilliance & Maddness is very thin.

When legit scientists state there is/maybe there is a "God", that statement is miles away from stating the God of the Bible is real.  The way scientists use the term God has no correlation to a Christian theist approach or any other theist approach.  Essentially they are referring to "God" in a non theist sense.   So I don't understand why religious people get all excited about this unless they don't understand the context in which the scientist is talking about "God".

That's how you know it was written by a conservative. Some are purposefully misleading, but most simply don't understand the difference. This one even tosses in the oft-repeated Einstein myth.

In an infinite existence with no finite limits, at all, despite the fact you might live in a relatively finite feeling ordered bubble, the tendency is for most possibilities outside of the bubble to seem "mad" and "wacky" because of our rather .. infinitesimal perceptions on what is normal.

Physicists aren't "mad" when they suggest things as a result of infinite possibilities and scale in the universe.

You have to understand that when a physicist suggests that in some universes the islamic god may actually exist, he is also saying that there must be some universes where you have ten thousand cocks and you slam ten thousand wives at a time.

And yeah, you might say "that sounds stupid, it can't be!"

One half of that is right.. it IS stupid.

But in an infinite universe.. it certainly fucking CAN be :)

Physicists aren't mad - they just aren't 100% thinking about this particular localised bubble of relative order that we call home.

So I suppose it's cool to backtrack now.

Hawking doesn't know what, if anything, is awaiting him.  He is as scared as anyone of death.  He clings to his life like a Joey to it's mothers teat.  People that believe in God are no different in that respect but they have, or claim to have, faith and that faith is their comfort.

I won't deny them their comfort and neither will I deny Hawing his faux certainty.  He's a smart enough man but at night when the sun sets he is as any man of faith would be in that he silently prays for another day to begin and no amount of posturing will make a difference.

All concerned need to get over our differences and concentrate on what we have in common.

That was me showing that two people , no matter how highly esteemed they are have differing opinions , neither is right or wrong. It works both ways.

x2. Isn't it odd how MOS became so defensive at the slightest attack against his religion.

It was obvious that you were just pointing out that two authority figures can hold two drastically different opinions without actually being right or wrong on a particular matter.

Very strange.

Hypocritical stance. He was fine with Coach's "little mic drop" but immediately became defensive at your supposed "mic drop."

Very odd how his beliefs has distorted his thinking.

I will pray for him.

What is it with conservatives and God? Why do conservatives tend to believe in such ancient fairy tales so frequently?

Should've asked him, which one of the hundreds of gods does this refer to? I bet it just happens to correlate to the one of his upbringing.

Not all Conservatives believe in God.  John didn't and he was a good man.  The majority of Liberals have faith only in the government.  A church will ask you to donate and you can refuse. l And God or any deity really, doesn't need your money nor your worship nor anything else you have to "offer".

The government, especially under liberal "leadership" will take everything they can from you.  When you die, you will know either nothing or the truth of someone else's beliefs.  Get over your indignation of a God or god or gods or whatever.  If you don't  believe it can't harm you because last I checked, God hasn't done crap to unbelievers in a couple thousand years or more.

Governments on the other hand, will dry fuck you and tell you how much better your life is.  Go try and pick on someone else because I don't give a fuck where you wind up so long as its not next to me and mine because I don't want to listen to your whining.   ;D
