When are you starting your prep for October?
It's 25th October so I will begin prep 16weeks beforehand. As I've stated before I'm waiting on a hernia operation and if this comes up while I'm prepping then ill put off competing until next April which is the next time we have a show here after October

Different people different motivations.
I know some guys like to compete because it makes the feel like a superhero; others simply like the feeling of being admired/looked at, etc.
Some may do it for validation and some may feel their existence in the bodybuolding scene is not completely justified until the compete at least once...

I saw a small guy set a world record back  (1980) in the 123 lb class benching 315  ;)

Here's the deal:

1. EVERY pro competed as an amateur when they were smaller and less impressive looking.

2. NOBODY knows for sure how great a bodybuilder you'll be, until you compete on stage.

3. Competing in ANY sport should never start with going pro.
While most little leaguers dream of being in the majors, they play for the love of the game.

4. I returned to bodybuilding contests in the 1990's after being hardcore in the 1980's.
Then, I only did state/regional NPC shows without drugs or the need to go pro.

I used the contest date and atmosphere to help push me to be a better bodybuilder.
Dieting isn't fun, but I refused to get caught up in the extreme prep regimes many use.

5. Today, I enjoy watching a few state/regional shows and doing my thing in the gym.

The real  success secret is to do what's in your own best interest with bodybuilding.

stop rambling Howard....

The site is called Getbig, not 'get up on stage in a coloured thong looking like an under nourished fucking muppet who could do with actually getting into a gym'
true

and they will cry "post your pic" etc when you mock their pathetic bodies

I have solid genetics and I enjoy competition so i figured why not compete? for a few years of my life (different chapter) i want to compete against the best in my class (NPC classic bodybuilding tall class) id like to earn my pro card within 3 years. am i going to hawk supplements or online training? not at all. as a kid my brother and i both wanted to pros in sports like every other kid. he came real close in track and field.

id like to get that pro title no matter how watered down it may be.

"in my early 30s I became a pro bodybuilder in men's classic and competed against some top notch talent"
