Since October, about 89,000 workers in general merchandise stores have lost their jobs, which is more than the number of people employed in the entire U.S. coal industry, the New York Times reported.
Many sources of this story but I chose Newsmax since I know it's a favorite of our right wing postersWTF - I had no idea there were so few people working in the coal industryTrump talked so much about the coal industry I assumed there were actually a lot of coal workersWell, I guess there will be a lot more coal worker very soon. http://www.newsmax.com/Finance/StreetTalk/Retail-Stores-Devastated-Massive/2017/04/18/id/784933/
That sucks that you won't be able to get that seasonal job at Target again this holiday season.
Sucks even more for Trump voters who actually want those jobsOh well, I'm sure Trump has other plans to make them great again
Pretty sure retail brick and mortar stores have been struggling for a few years now, the internets has killed retail!!
exactly, just like coal mining by humans is becoming archaic and obsolete
lol straw at target? Nah he is more of a walmart kinda guy
And he sure as fuck won't be getting his hands dirty doing any labor work. Today's cupcakes can't even change a tire
Please tell us about tires. From what I hear you lost yours along with the gym.
And Amazon will kill all small retailers on the internet. They are doing to WalMart what Wal Mart did to mom and pops in the 90s. The future will be dollar stores, 7-11s and Amazon trucks and drones. ....
I think the "smallest" retailers will actually stay in business by giving superior service and having more personal approach, but big box retailers are definitely going to be outdone by Amazon soon enough.
The newest shopping "malls" are like little villages with no "big box" anchor stores. Bridgeport Village and West Linn Central Village are close to home.
