However this film is much more interesting and not very well known on this side of the pond.
This is the last production of the WWII era German film industry...It has no discernible National Socialist propaganda points. The art direction is superb.
They made it in Prague in order to avoid the Allied aerial bombings. After the principal photography was completed, everyone ran to avoid the Soviets. The post production and release happened after the war.
