I think is was Samir that said he had just spoken to him a few days ago and seemed just fine. I think he battled cancer a while back but not sure if that had anything to do with it.

He was given 3 months to live in 2012 so he did well considering. Terminal cancer doesn't just go away though.

74. He went on keto diet for his cancer and went into remission. He was told he had 4 months to live.

Followed his career and writings a lot, good mind. Real stand out was the book Bodybuilding a scientific approach, that book and Arnolds encyclopaedia formed the theoretical base for my early training and im sure many others from my generation.

So many win the battle with cancer to lose the war in the end whether its through it coming back or the sheer exhaustion of the fight on the body. RIP

He was an intelligent, highly educated, strong man who excelled at powerlifting. He wrote extensively on strength and hypertrophy. He was behind a group offering courses for instructors.
