They judge you based on two things:

1) broadly put, how hard you can train (which is quantified here by how much weight you can perform selection bodybuilding movements in, for 12 clean reps-- traditional bodybuilding rep range); and
2) your overall look based on proportions (which they're assuming will translate, on average, to a visually impressive physique, muscular with a narrow waist and broad shoulders, based on the matrix they laid out for measuring).

This is trying to be a hybrid of bodybuilding-style training-- which MILLIONS of people in this country do, not just competitors, all the social media warriors, all the "office workers who want to be toned", all of them--

And it's combining it, essentially, with a Cross-Fit type approach.

Combining look, and function, within a bodybuilding context.

CrossFit athletes have become very muscular and ripped (at the highest levels), and that has mass appeal to a very large market. CrossFit has started to look more bodybuilding.

Bodybuilding has become progressively less about function, and more about bloat and lethargy-- and lots of people hate it for that, and want a somewhat more reasonable overall approach.

Who backs CrossFit? Reebok. Who's on board here? Nike. That's pretty frickin' big.

To have these people at the helm-- along with bodybuilding.com, after BB.com told the IFBB to go fuck themselves by not ponying up to broadcast the Olympia two years ago-- this has to have some pretty major backing and planning.

This takes the parts of bodybuilding that have SOME appeal to the general public-- and combines it with athleticism.

Calling it now, in time, this is going to put out bigger numbers than CrossFit. And so appropriate to have Dorian at the helm.

Keep letting the sport rot internally, IFBB-- while smarter people leave you in the rear view mirror.

If people can get laid doing it, it will take off. That's why crossfit is so successful. People go and workout and interact with others who expectedly would be physically attractive. They workout then hit restaurants together, eat paleo, socialize, hook up and all the rest. This is why all the "bodybuilders" hate crossfit (if you can call the zit-backed, cliche tattooed, bearded, gallon water jug carrying, insecure looking, local steroid users at your gym bodybuilders). Their sole goal and purpose in life is simply to get laid and when they see these truly fit people who at least look healthy (even if they are destroying their joints) hooking up and working out and having sex with each other on the weekend they get jealous. I've been to a gym that had a crossfit area and offered classes. Most of the crossfitters had been dating one another at some point. It was like a big sex ring or something. The relationships never left the paleo crossfit group, they just changed partners.
