i mean its basically just a slideshow isnt it? thats the pinnacle of creation, of the technology of smart phones, what occupy peoples lives all day all night - a bunch of pictures in a slideshow?

its not very different from back in the day when people were visiting their relatives and they were showing holiday still photos.

It never used to be. I remember years ago when it came out. I joined because it was a way to have amateur and professional photogs to showcase their photos and also get creative with their phones.

BUT...

Facebook bought it and it all went downhill from there. I'm not on Facebook but as soon as Facebook took over it started changing. You can't use an artist song on it in a slideshow...it doesn't come up and a warning of copyright pops up.

Tracking your likes.

Lots of ads.

And of course...The Facebook Douche Bags.

You know the one's...that put paragraphs of words up about politics, songs, beliefs, etc. etc. when its suppose to be for photos. Countless meme's and flooding your timeline with just plain stupid crap that you see on a hourly basis on Facebook.

Promotions. Strip Clubs, DJ's, House Parties, etc. etc.

I will agree, Instagram is just a stage for whores to get attention. But I use it for business and it's fucking gold. I don't get as much off Facebook anymore but I put up something the other day and in about 5 hours I had 300 comments of people linking their friends. So I do look for posts that get attention, obviously some will be better than others. I've had the business 5 years so in that time it's built up a lot and I can put anything up and sell it now.

If you're not obsessed facebook and twitter are very useful.   Twitter can be used for little league rainout communication, local events, etc.   Subgroups on facebook are fantastic means of communication (town news, event organizations) and give the ability to share in real time.
