David Hughes - Where is he Now?

This is from 2013...David was turning 47 that year.  I was with Matt C when he took this video at the expo.  Jeff McFarland PT was there too.  We had just seen Branden Ray, and Jeff said David's physique did not look "alive", relatively speaking - compared to Ray's.

Jeff then chatted it up with Branden Ray.  It seemed to me that Jeff knew Branden from Gold's Venice, or something like that.  Jeff would attend the LA Fit Expo, and some Olympias as well.  I'm not sure if he still does.  Jeff was also good friends with Chris Cormier.  Super close, from what I could tell.

Anyway, where is David?  He was a sponsored athlete bodybuilder for many years, even deep into his forties.  I think he was with DYMATIZE in 2013.  He was with Gaspari in 2007-2008, and possibly even a bit later than that.

Any word on David lately?

At 51, I would hope he is not on high level sauce anymore.  This is a guy who was near pro-size, and pushing 50, still signed with a big company, even though I do not believe he was a pro.  But he was about pro size.  At 6'0, he was 250+, and lean.

For his sake, I hope he sized down.

I just don't recall anything about this guy since 2013.  So perhaps he retired moved on.

Bodybuilders should not use the term retired - as if to suggest ther is a pension waiting for them, or any other benefits for that matter!

Wow, it looks like Hughes came very close to turning pro in 2009, where Stan Efferding turned pro instead:

Also, Jeff McFarland PT told me that after one of Cormier's later shows, he was very sad.  As if Chris knew it was his last viable chance to place in the top three or even win, but he did not, and was extremely sad.

PS - Tim has still not updated MuscleMemory with the results from the New York Pro.  Is it for sure a fact that he is doing ok?  Just wondering.  I fear for Tim's health.  One of his Tweets was something to the effect "Today, I am older than my father ever was."

He was the guy Dave Pulcinella was competitive with going to Pittsburgh in one of the Raising the Bar documentaries I watched 5 or so years ago. Can't remember how that turned out but obviously neither of them turned pro. I saw David Hughes a few months ago at Gold's Venice.  He is downsized.

Oddly scott markey "replaced" David as the "face" of HDT. Think David had an injury then took time off to have anbaby at that time. Might be in reverse order. That's aboutnall inknkw.
