I am not an iphone phone fan, but bought me a ipod touch in 2012.I used it daily for music and podcasts mostly which I listened to on a daily basis until few months ago.It worked flawlessly and never had an issue with it.Mine is full with music,books,podcasts,some pictures and videos and travels everywhere with me.Have you thought about this option?The last one has a way better chip,camera and storage.Itunes sucks big time so I almost never used it.It might work for you if you are an android guy.

i just want free podcasts preferably tech n science related , im not familiar with these gadgets im just sick n tired of the radio at work .  i plan on downloading podcasts while at home then listening to them at work, then deleting when im done

Or go to Amazon and buy one cheaper. The iPhone 5s is two generations behind, which means, in the future a lot of the apps will not be working, and Apple will not update and you are stuck in the same situation that you are in now.

Sorry, Marty, I can't respond to that because I only use my cell phone for phone calls and an occasional photo shot.

Anything else it may do, I am unaware of.

But I do suggest that you check with the cheaper service providers to see if they can provide the service you want without throwing your money away to Verizon.
