You nailed it. When I was in college the only ones that had tattoos were bikers or a few military veterans. Now go to the beach. You will find grandma, grandpa, mom, dad and teenagers all with tats. How is that cool?  I live by the beach so I can see the trend is less. I actually see a lot of college age girls now without tats where 10 years ago it was rare to see a college age girl without one.

Most communication is non verbal..we see it and know it...19 year 115lb tough guy all tatted out with intimidating tattoos and look on face gets confronted by me...has happened once or twice...I have a right to peaceful and comfortable travel through my day tatted out kid.

On a positive note, from a male perspective, tattoos serve as a pretty good indicator of mental issues, a variation of a stop sign.
