Bought the comix as a kid. Looks awesome. Please don't let this be a lecture about race though. It's ironic how so many movies featuring blacks do the race thing. Getting tired of it. Hope this is just a fun movie and if so may appeal to a lot more people.

Always liked Black Panther as a character in the comics due to him being a Martial Artist, but that was a bit too much african culture (lip plated tribes and all) for me in one movie.

Good for the hebrews to finally have a Marvel-movie with the majority of the cast being black though, and finally where the white cast is a minority.

That being said, loved the comic, feeling so so about the movie.

The leopard is lighter, with shorter legs, and is more arboreal, and known for being one of the most dangerous big cats due to smaller size comparable to the other Big Cats. The Jaguar is heavier and is reknowned for its strength and stealth. DNA evidence shows that they are related---way down the line. Jaguars are related to Old World Big Cats.

Now, in the US, the "Panther" name is also applied to the Jaguar (Texas/Mexican/Arizona area) and is generally and the Puma aka Painter aka Mountain Lion aka Cougar. But, when one uses the term, generally one is referring to the melanistic Leopard.

Th movie Blade was a black character that made a hit with everybody. And was  R rated at that. Nobody was crying "PC, PC". Because people wanted to enjoy a good movie, where the main character happened to be black. And you didn't have the dogmatic divisiveness that you have now.
You are starting to sound like the snowflakes that you are criticize. In fact, you are both one in the same.
People have been wondering for years when a Black Panther and a Luke Cage movie would come out. There is mystique surrounding both characters, and yes they are black.
Hell, Professor Xavier and Magneto were influenced by the differing ideologies of MLK and Malcolm X.

I have to disagree on this, Parker. This movie looks like it will tank. I loved the Blade movies, and I absolutely have no issues with a black leading character. Unfortunately, this movie takes that premise a bit too far. It appeared that 90% of the cast was black.

Like it or not, that is going to put off a lot of people. Just look at some of the comments in this thread for example. Besides, I'm not sure the Black Panther can carry an entire movie by himself. He is more of a supporting character.

Regardless, this movie will do poorly.

Shaft and Foxy Brown are more realistic and better role models for ghetto types to look up to.
