Coach's theory is that Tebow couldn't get a job in the NFL because he was overly religious.


NFL teams have no problem hiring numerous thug dindus from the hood, but for some reason wouldn't give an opportunity to a good-looking clean-cut All-American white guy simply because he went to church on a regular basis.

All it's flaws aside, batting average isn't necessarily something that is part of a player's promotion at this level......I believe it was exit velocity in  this case.

I don't follow minor-league baseball. Frankly, I no longer even follow the major leagues. But looking at his stats this seems horrible.

His stats were not good.

But, the coaches obviously saw a trend/change that they felt would translate at the next level.   Compiled numbers aren't necessarily what's used to evaluate to predict a player's effectiveness at the next step of the game.  Eventually, of course the numbers will have to be there.

All kidding aside, batting average isn't be-all-end-all of baseball stats.  Jack Cust is a good example, career .242 hitter but was still a valuable player because he had a crazy-high on-base percentage for someone with such a low batting average and had a bit of power (no homo).  But Tebow is still not good.

If you are a power hitter you can get away with a low batting average, but Tebow has four homeruns in over 200 at bats. That sucks. He definitely got that promotion for reasons other than his stats.
