No way that would play.  Without credit card details they'd have to resort to extorting payment from you under threat of fucking your credit rating.  That's an old scam that they'd use to fleece people out of $10-$20 ("non-payment of this invoice will result in collections action etc") but I can't see anyone sitting still for thousands.

I get a dozen or so calls daily as I own a couple of businesses and have my phone number (I use my cell for them) on various websites, etc. I found a great app called Extreme Call Blocker to be great. It answers and then immediately hangs up on these calls and they have a huge database of FCC numbers programmed. It costs a onetime fee of $5.

Same here. I get them all the time. The new one is a chick and she sounds "real" and then talks about loaning money. It's a prerecording but a good one. Then there's the ones that you say hello a few times and I guess hat triggers the asshat in the call center to start shaking you down. There's also the one where it hangs up immediately after you pick up. All of them local numbers.

I've heard they are recording your voice and call multiple times so they can piece together sentences and try to use that to access your other accounts, etc...
