How VP Pence could advance the GOP conservative agenda.
« on: July 01, 2017, 06:11:14 PM »
Yes, Pres Trump has signed some executive orders and nominated a good man to the SCOTUS.
BUT, his lack of focus and effective dealing with congress is hurting the GOP agenda.

The objective truth is Trump is a good campaigner and can rally the conservative base.
The problem is, he's a train wreck at working  to pass key legislation.

Trump has failed to make effective use of the presidential "bully pulpit" when it comes to health care.
For whatever reason, he has failed to get his own party in congress in line on this new bill.

I'd like to see Trump go around the country with VP Pence on a "Trump-care" rally tour.
Let Trump open the show and get the base fired up.
Then introduce VP Pence and let him make the case and give the facts.

Once congress sees Trump has the voters on his side, Pence and speaker Ryan can go to work with
the members of congress.
Have them cut deals and  allow the dems to add in a couple moderate ideas to make it look bi-partisan.

THEN they might actually pass a health care bill with decent public support that would be better then Obama-care.

Thoughts?

You cannot "work" with the Democratic Party anymore. You can barely work with Republicans anymore for the good of the country. They will vote "no" on anything because it is all based on party lines. Nothing to do with Trump. There is no working with those who only push further and further away from American ideals, etc.
No way should "Kate's Law", etc. not get passed with flying colors through the senate but it won't because of political affiliation.

I would rather get nothing done then continue towards the degradation of our country by conceding policies that destroy rather then build up again.

For the record Obamacare and the Republican Bill both are terrible. This whole bill is essentially one big compromise for the democrats and they still don't like it or they are smart and realize that now the republicans can take the blame for the failing system that they started creating. Doubt they are that clever, though.

My comment is directed towards Trump should be working with those who do not have our best interests in mind. Including repubcrats.

I agree with you on Kate's law being a no brainer to become law.
However, there are at least some dems in the house and senate that would work with the GOP.
We shouldn't demonize the other side of aisle without trying to work together first.
