What can you honestly bench?as of today.
« on: July 11, 2017, 02:59:09 PM »
So I just started benching again about 3-4 weeks ago as my shoulder and elbow has been in pain for years so even when I benched rarely wouldn't really go over 225 often. All of a sudden everything feels good.Benched today and got 245 for 18,275 for 14,315 for 8.Felt great do do 3 plates for reps again.Weighed 242 today,I'm no Hercules but I don't see to many guys repaying 315.Just wanted to see where you hulks were at on bench and what you weigh.also no juice or supps no spotter no bounce and legs up.

To me 300 so strong. You don't see to many people bench 300 with good form or at all.

245 for over eighteen thousand reps is impressive, but I think the 14 thousand plus bench for 8 reps is better.

I'd say 225 for 12 is 300 for a 2-4.for me anyways.

I wouldn't get that translation.

Only benched over 300 twice....once 315, once 325.  Could do 225 x 18 that day, but couldn't likely do 300 for more than 1-2.

It's different for everyone though.

Varies with bodyweight. Working sets no matter how heavy I am I rarely go above 315/365 though

Don't think I've ever pushed 405 flat, just 365x8. Heaviest decline i do 425 x3, but 315 x15-20 is the usual heaviest I go. Heaviest incline I've ever done was 365x3 in a smith machine (long, long ago). Usually only go 225-245 for 6-8 now.

Don't have the bone-structure/frame to push heavy, especially flat.

I'd say that's pretty heavy.

275 on incline is pretty impressive for anyone.

I no longer bench. Personal best, 445 max. 365 for 6 for 2 sets. 315 for 12 reps 3 sets. 225 for 25. Incline best 315 for 5 reps.

To me 300 so strong. You don't see to many people bench 300 with good form or at all.

I only need two hands to count the number of times I've ever seen someone bench more than 315 for reps with good form.  I mostly work out in commercial and university gyms though.  The people on here who act like that level of strength is a common thing are either restricting their sample to a very narrow slice of the population (e.g. athletes who train to be big and/or strong) or are just full of it.  315x8 or so is crazy strong among the general population and most people will never get there even if they are very dedicated lifters.

People also way overestimate what their one-rep max is from multi-rep maxes.  I've known lots of guys who will grunt out 225x8 with their platonic lifting partner rowing half the weight off their chest the last two reps, then will claim they are good for "a few reps of 315" (lol).

The most I've ever done is 230.

Bench was always my worst lift. I could probably bench 175 for 1. I weigh 200.
