I loved it too. Michael Keaton was AMAZING! I gotta say though,that I don't feel super compelled to see it a third time (I went a second time with some of my kids) It really is more of an origin story in tone, and I'm a bit burnt out on those.

I gotcha.....these reboots typically have a definite origin or the feel of an origin and I agree it's old.....we know who Spider-man is LOL!!

After I saw Homecoming I rewatched SM2 and then The Amazing Spider-man to compare.

For me I rank them:

Yes, I pulled out Spider-man 2 and watched it again. I felt like Marvel was so careful NOT to compete with that film that it was hard to compare. On a side note I was shocked that they made it so clear that Aunt May learned his identity in Spider-man 2. I thought it was merely hinted at but in the scene where she is moving out of her house it is very explicitly shown.

I don't know. Marvel Studios has essentially created a new character in this new Spider-man. One kind of similar to their animated line. The adult in me will always hold up Spider-man 2 as a kind of platonic ideal but the kid in me really likes Homecoming.
