Only 1 Mr Olympia currently dead

For such an unhealthy sport, don't think we're doing too bad.

The only dead Mr Olympia on record right now is Sergio Oliva and he died at the age of 71.

Every single man to ever win a Mr Olympia since inception in 1965 is still alive.

Since Oliva, there's been 11 Mr Olympia in 47 years. The oldest is Dickerson I thinK and he's not even 80. Columbu comes next and Arnold is what, 70yo?

Apart from the knee injury in what 72? the rest were injuries from stunts on movie sets and accidents but no shitty quality of life

The list of guys that died young is long. The list of guys with heart and kidney conditions is long.  If you are fragile for decades before you die that's not a health and strength victory.  Young people don't care about their health thinking they are fine. Sure some will be alright into old age just like some life long smokers. It is a risk to health.  Bodybuilding could be one of the greatest activities but it has dissolved into an activity based on drug use.

Maybe a better question to ask is how many good years did they have before they died early? Being weak and sickly for 20 years before death is horrible way to go.

the golden era guys seem to live long and normal lives. without any real health problems. its the guys from the 90s and 2000s that have problems. kidneys livers intestines heart etc. at early ages. and yes its drug use that has caused it or accelerated it. hell just look at them. most are bald back in the day hardly anyone was bald. now no one has hair. lol. drug use.  its one thing to have health issues in your 70s ( thats normal) but 30 and 40 and 50? heart attacks liver failure kidneys gone etc.  doesnt take a genius to figure this out
