It appears to me that there is a Bodybuilding/
Fitness expo on this planet just about every other weekend.

Due to a lack of interest over the past few years, I have only attended the Olympia Expo in Las Vegas when I get the time to do so, but today I got a special invite.

Years ago I knew most of the exhibitors or the owners or originators of the products that were on display, but a good number of those expo pioneers have either passed away or disappeared from the expo market.

But today I received an invite to attend the IDEA Fitness Expo and could not say, "No .... but thanks!" and found myself in the IDEA Fitness Expo (I think that is what it was called) walking among the exhibits looking for bodybuilding and fitness individuals whom I used to know way, way back when ..... But I only found one whom you'll never guess until I tell a so.

First of all ... I discovered that this IDEA Expo is  vastly different from the Olympia Expo.

It was a lot smaller with most of the products simply related to the fitness industry and supplements which I've never heard of before but which were making similar claims that would make you bigger, faster, stronger and a bit less wealthy (but not too much).

The big name supplement products that we  usually gripe about on the GetBig Board were not present, but there were numerous new products that were weight lifting related and more Pilate gear than anyone ever anticipated.

SO here is who I met and spent about 45 minutes with shooting photos and talking about the good old days of lifting heavy things and the surfing conditions in Mailibu.

Do any GetBiggers remember Jack Lalanne?

Well Jack passed away a few year back but I knew Jack before he became a famous TV personality and had a very old looking gym on Market St in San Francisco

So today I met his wife who is now 91 and still as spry as any 50 year old. And also Jack's son who asked me if I could get him into the USMC today ever though he's way to old ... but like his dad, he loves doing crazy things such as surfing the beaches of Malibu even when sharks are seen in the vicinity and jumping from a aircraft under combat conditions (He loves crazy stuff more than any other activity.)

That get-together turned out to be the high-lite of the day and we plan to stay in contact.

The next 'event' that impressed me was the demonstration of a 'suit' that looks something like those Star War guys in the white military garb
that somehow sends electrical impulses throughout your whole body to enhance 'stuff' that I still have to read about within the brochure I was given.

I would have got one but the price was $9,000.00 but I took a brochure and their card because I know competitors who just might buy one with no little regards about the cost.

Last item on display that drew my interest was a futuristic looking round, glass shower type of unit that you step in and it measures your exact body-fat percentage in three-minutes time.

The vast majority of people in attendance had builds somewhat similar to in-shape swimmers or tennis players.

It appeared that all muscle heads were stopped from entering at the front door.

That was the biggest difference I noticed from the Oly Expo.

If you go to a similar expo in your home-town, please feel free to describe it here.

I took a lot of brochures, so now I have a lot of reading to do.

The Europa expos and contests are annually in Dallas, Phoenix, and Orlando, and I think was in Charlotte this year too:

The Fit Expo is in 6 major cities:

Even Lou Ferrigno is getting into the expo biz; its called the Flexpo:

And aside from the Olympia, don't forget the other giant one, the Arnold:
