how so ? from what i understand there's a shitload of bootlegs and replicas sold there on amazon through third parties, which also messes up their whole review system as it leads to people both giving 5 stars and 1 star on the same product, since some get the real deal and some a replica or bootleg.

A lot of bootleg products being sold on Amazon.  I have received some of these fakes as gifts from family members.

While I don't mean to be an ingrate, I cringe when certain people buy me gifts because I know the shop primarily through Amazon and I'm likely going to receive a Chinese fake.

That's a huge spread. You can't compare someone with an estate around 5 mill to someone around 50. Also, has to be put in perspective according to exactly which city you live in. 5 to 13/14 is more reasonable and above 15, whole different ballgame.
