Good item, but not worth it in my opinion.  Depends what you want to do with it really.

I am a master griller...well that is what everyone calls me because I can cook just about anything on a charcoal grill. I have ate food off of the Big Green Egg on 4 different occasions and I did not care for it. I can put out 10X the taste with my Weber 22" kettle grill using Kingsford professional briquets. I cook anything indirectly on it that you would put in an oven and cook most things directly on it that you cook on the stove. Eggs and soup not included of course. I thought the food off the Egg to be very bland. The Weber grill I use is $149.99.

I used to have that grill then I got sick of getting charcoal.Weber makes great grills gas or charcoal.

Good to know they lay that long.

Count me in as another Weber lover. I bought a 'lower end' model for about $600 and I like it better than my last BBQ that was much more expensive.

I've got a large Weber, and a large green egg.  I only use the green egg for smoking meats.  The problem with the green egg, is that it takes about 45 minutes to get it set up with a good fire in it.  For grilling, the Weber is much faster, and will get up to 650 degrees.  For smoking, the green egg is the way to go.  Once you get it set up, it's pretty much idiot proof.

Year 12 for me and mines. Good shit.

I only use charcoal. The 22" kettles last 12-15 years. I just replace mine this year. It needed a new grate and the ash pushers in the very bottom were stuck from gunk so I decided to buy a new one. I actually lucked out and Target clearanced then out early.this year. I got the last one for $99 instead of $149. Hell this grill may outlive me.

Weber 22 inch is your best bet. Under $100 off season. You can also smoke with the Weber. Go indirect with a drip pan full of water, apple juice or dark beer.  Use apple or cherry wood along with charcoal. Green Egg is not worth the $$$$.

You have to be fucking retarded if you are going to cook your dinner in a sand castle. Just think, the neighborhood cat comes over and shits in your sand pile. So the first time you slide your rump roast in (no pun intended Vince) the heat melts the cat shit and it drips down on your rump............roast. Now you end up with a shit glazed roast. No thank you!  :-X

You are very welcome. I cook our Thanksgiving turkey on it every year. You coat the turkey with oil, then salt and pepper it. You indirect cook it. No basting needed and you just add a couple handfulls of briquettes twice during cooking and that is it. I capture the juice in an aluminum pan and I pour some over the cut meat. I also add it to my homemade chicken and noodles. Gives thems a great smoky flavor.

THE BGE is awesome but there are other komodo style grills for a 1/3 of the price if they're out of your budget like the Big Joe Grill, Char Grill anothers, but make sure you get ceramic.  I can get my temp to about 210 and it will stay there for about 24 hours without budging.  I've been a brisket making maniac.

Then search on youtube for Franklin BBQ series and follow what he does for the best fucking meat possible.  Can't wait for thanksgiving to try some turkeys.

Best buy. I just BBQ'ed lobster and shrimp to make Mac and Cheese. I have one at home and one at my beach house in Rodanthe. The one in Rodanthe is locked up and never used by Tourons.

The one problem or gimmick with the egg is they get you on everything. You have to buy the legs, the indirect heating plate.

I just bought the Kickash basket. That was a good buy since you can shake your lump charcoal and not waste any or plug up your air.

I also purchased for about $400 was a digital air damper fan, pit probe and meat probe. It connects to the phone and it regulates oxygen to help with longer cooks. You NEED this because just screwing around with the damper doesn't help...you'd be going insane trying to cook a brisket for 10 hours.

All in all I'm very happy with it.

I've invited True Adonis and Vince G to my house for a BBQ but they never answered me. Of course I know the teacher for licensing electricians in NC and heard about falcon...I posted that last year...too long to rehash garbage.

This and a Weber is all that's needed for perfectly grilled food.  You just have to learn how to play around with the heat & vents depending on what you're cooking.

A whole turkey slathered in peanut oil & seasoned cooks in half the time of a conventional oven and the smokey flavor goes all the way to the bone. Tender and juicy, Betty Crocker picture perfect.

Fuck.....Old people are depressing. They can literally talk about anything.

Who gives a shit. Either you can cook or you can't. Stop acting like you guys are the wizards of flavor. You just come off as trying too hard.

I don't think Chef Ramsey would be spotted at an Aldi's. He has taste.

Weber is pure and utter overrated garbage. Nothing different from your ordinary 1967 backyard BBQ except the over exaggerated price.

I guess if you're cooking ALDI'S SWEAT SHOP BEEF from the "Use Today Or Freeze" section then I guess its ok.

Choose that kind of beef because it doesn't require too much sophistication.

I make my own lump charcoal. This way I can make bigger pieces for longer cooks.
