Yep. Had a 5 mile ride in an ambulance  to the hospital once. Bill? $3800. Uber would have been better. All they did was give me a ride.

Well if all you needed was a ride then you should have caught an uber and left emergency services for emergencies dummy.

But dont bitch after the fact when you have taken up 2 trained paramedics, state of the art equipment that can be the difference between life and death and a driver who  can cut through traffic.

You also get priority when admitted to the ER via ambulance as opposed to uber.

Ah it wasn't a shock, she had been very ill for a while but as the oldest child (father died about 7yrs ago) I gotta run the show for the next few days, amazing how quick things happen here, I'm holding her hand as she dies and two hours later I'm picking out a coffin and post funeral catering.

Really sorry for your loss. Lost my father to cancer 13years ago and my mother has been sick for the past 3 years with pulmonary fibrosis. Don't know how long she'll last. When you're the elder or the only child, responsibilities are for you to deal with. I wish you the best.

Sorry for your loss I went thought the exact same thing with my mom not long ago. Seeing that last breath was difficult enough but then I had to shift gears and handle/settle the estate because my dad is in a nursing home with Alzheimers.  The nursing home became relentless (even taking me to court) and I am thankful I did comprehensive estate planning to protect their home and assets.

They don't even give you time to grieve.

Actually all the ambulance did was give me a ride. I had severe abdominal pain that was debilitating
And I ultimately passed out. The EMT at the time said "we can't give you anything unless you are  in imminent risk of death"- so all they could do was give me a ride to the ER ( no way I could drive and I didn't know anyone in that city). Unless you are gushing blood it turns out there is little the EMTs are authorized to do. Lesson learned.

I challenged the cost of the ambulance and had it reduced but only by 25%. Ambulance charges are off the charts high because those we can pay end up covering those who don't.

Wow - been a tough week for all.    Got the call from my dad today that his brother, my uncle passed away this morning.  Funeral on Friday.   Yes, behind these persona's and joke, we are real people, who deal with real life.

I know ive been making light of the Piana situation in this thread and in the midst of the nonsense it's easy to forget that we are real people dealing with real life.

My condolences to all that have recently lost loved ones.

I'm grateful for what you all share.
