Yes that is correct, but incest (as we know it today) was neither deemed criminal nor ungodly.  Indulgence implies sinful behavior and that wasn't the case at that time and technically there was no "incest".

As time passed and generations flourished and expanded God instituted commands that prevented, definite incestuous relationships.

Had he created them perfect - "in his own image," as written - they wouldn't have disobeyed. Since God created their nature, too (in his image), they would have instinctively behaved like the righteous creatures they were. Defying God wouldn't even have occurred to them.

The fact that they did fall short means God designed them imperfect with the capacity for sin. Knowing beforehand (omniscience) they would disobey, yet STILL choosing to create, makes him ultimately responsible for sin/evil, too. Also proves that the Bible's less inerrant than claimed.

Though it's far MORE likely that the authors simply fucked up here as they did with much of the rest.

You equating "in his own image" with "the capacity to sin" is a false equivalence.   Further, defining the ability to choose as "the capacity for sin" doesn't follow logically.  The act of choice is benign in and of itself.  Although the result of choice can result in righteous or sinful acts, but the ability to choose isn't an imperfection.

The interaction of the first people wasn't incestuous and was deemed righteous and appropriate by the ultimate authority in God.  I can't approve or disapprove of an act like incest as it didn't exist in that time and context.  Now, I disagree with engaging in incest once God decreed it an inappropriate act.  

As I said, the act of incest was later deemed inappropriate by God as the generations expanded and flourished.  The impact of sin had already spread in humanity and brought with it decay, disease and death.   Allowing same generational lines to engage incestuously would result in genetic abnormalities....God knew this and commanded it to stop.
