That's the conditioning part and yes I agree, his handlers were idiots.

I watched Conner train. He was always out of breath more than I would have expected even for a MMA fighter. I wonder how much weight he put on after the weigh in. He looked winded after the second round.

That question was asked. He said about 170. So 17lbs since weigh ins

No he wasn't....Floyd carried him most of the fight to maximize his payday....in addition to teaching him a lesson for being arrogant and not taking him seriously.   If he finished him too early, he would not have gotten that much.

Yeah, well - I'd beat both of them if they entered the Canadian Nationals for amateur strongman in the 170-lb class with me next month.

And that's the point -. they train for different sports.

But in an MMA FIGHT, McGregor would beat Mayweather - and Brian Shaw for that matter.  So I think it's safe to say that even though both are better at their respective sports, McGregor crossed over more successfully than Mayweather would ever be able to - and that's worth something.

Matt, just a reminder, this is not about you. You shouldn't have to insert what you are doing (specifically the strong man stuff) into almost every post.

You could say, "Well, they both would lose to someone doing a strong man contest, because they don't train for that." This way, you don't mention yourself, but you made a valid point.

Conner has years of boxing experience under his belt Floyd has zero grappling under his so no it's not worth anything so your point is mute. You're acting as if Conner "crossing over" is some big feat. Conner is a loud mouth that got his ass handed to him by a 40 year old retired boxer albeit arguably one of the best ever.

Good point.  It's just nice to FINALLY get to compete in my own weight class.  Meanwhile, the first time I get the chance, I'm Nationals-qualified,

Which leads me to another point - I was doing ok in the 200-lb and 210-lb weight classes locally, but as said above, in my own class, I got a ticket to Nats on the first try.  This leads me to believe that no matter how good someone is in their own (lower) weight class, they will get beaten by an equally good, heavier competitors.

So for instance, Georges St-Pierre could most likely be beaten by any/every heavyweight fighter.  Roy Nelson is a decent fighter, but isn't known by a lot of people, and his fights aren't big draws or anything.  Meanwhile, he would likely beat GSP with no major issues.

That really puts things in perspective.  There are probably heavyweight MMA fighter and boxers who will never go far in their sport, yet could beat GSP or Mayweather,. thanks to their body weight advantage.

But regardless I'm sorry, Parker - you have the right to be disgusted with my comment.  I won't bring up Nationals in any other unrelated topic until I compete in it next month.

I wonder if McGregor regrets doing the fight at 170-lb?  Considering he weighed in at 153...I guess after the weigh-in he decided that he would ratherbebig.

Incidentally, after paying $99.95 CAD for the fight replay, it stopped working after the third round, LOL.  So I'm watching the replay.  Hopefully it stays online for a while so I can read the comments and discussion.

Again, I'm disgusted with your comments, Jim.  Much like I was disgusted when King Kamali doxed you in MuscleMag.

As to my point being mute, heh, I really don't consider this to be a fight where Mayweather handed McGregor his asshole.  McGregor won the 1st round for example, and Mayweather has beaten actual professional boxers faster than he did McGregor.

Again, Mayweather did not hand McGregor his asshole so, IMO, your point is moot.

Mmmm, that last part. Yes he did. Mayweather let McGregor win the first 3-4. 4th round the fight became legal. After that it was all Mayweather. If the fight went on McGregor would have been dead.

Dead?  Mayweather does not have the power to knock you or I out, let alone McGregor.  Would McGregor have lost by decision?  Yes.  Or had the fight gone on, would McGregor have lost by a less debatable TKO?  Yes.  But are you suggesting McGregor ran the risk of being punched so hard that he could have actually died?

Again, I'm not saying McGregor would have won this fight, I'm just saying I don't think Mayweather handed McGregor his asshole as Jim stated.

4th round the fight became legal.

What do you mean by this?

 ;D ;D ;D

Conor did better than I thought he would though.  For example, to see McGregor lay waste to Mayweather was really cool to see!!

In 2006, Sarcasm and some others stated that Ronnie Coleman would have have been able to beat Mayweather.  He said for Ronnie, Mayweather would be like a mosquito.

The fight was stopped when Conner didn't throw a punch in the last minute of the fight and Mayweather was landing at will. Maybe you watched a different fight. Conner was handed his ass and his loud mouth was finally shut.  I do wish the ref would have let it go further as a bunch of knockdowns would have been fun to watch. I'm disgusted at you lack of knowledge and perception. Stick to what you know best whatever that may be.

conor sets up his punches in mma with his leg kicks, if this was a bare knuckle fight the outcome may be diff (boxing glove pillows blocking every shot)

but damn, he had no power, i was wondering if he was just playing around in the before sparring sessions, but damn, his power is overly overrated in ufc

I noticed that too. Conner got one good punch in which was a not so flush uppercut.  Everyone thought 8oz gloves was going to work in his favor but Floyd knew he would have an easier time knocking Conner out in the end.  Very smart move on Floyds part.

Not sure why anyone expected any other outcome. It was a novelty fight, nothing more.

props to the corona ring girls, it takes a lot of stamina to stand still in the post fight press conference for so long over 1 hour and 20 minutes!

not sure how much they get paid but i think a million dollar each would be reasonable.

Do you guys think that they will try for a rematch under MMA rules?

Think about it.....Many people want to see Floyd get smashed, and losing an MMA bout would not blemish his boxing record.

As eye rolling  ::) as it sounds, they would be fools not to consider it.

I think Mayweather will agree to a rematch using modified MMA rules.  He'll gross a few hundred million $ from the boxing match and would exceed that amount in the octagon.

He would keep his boxing record intact and laugh all the way to the bank.

I actually think they're good friends and have planned this.
