He was brilliant back in the day. Had a match with Bret on Raw which was off the charts good for the time.

I disagree. I think there was some excellent talent.

The shortage in my eyes was characters and angles.
Vince was chomping at the bit to adopt an edgier style to appeal to the older, more mature fans ala ECW. But, in the wake of the steroid and sex scandals of the early 90's, he was forced to adopt and adhere to an excessively subdued, diluted product that resulted in the cartoonish content seen in the "New Generation."
