I have a problem with the family next door to me. He beats his wife and screams like a complete idiot up to 7 h aday! I told him to shut the fuck up 3 days ago. Place went silent for 2 days. Now its on again. Fuck i cant take it. Its been going on for 6 months. I dont like to call cops on people etc. But something is horribly wrong here. Wife, kids screaming in fear and i have to listen to that shit. Any ideas?

Do you live in a row home?  If you call, they can't pin it on you.  Cops tend to be lackadaisical when responding to noise complaints.  Domestic disputes are usually taken more seriously.

Ok i called. I know its a probably drunk dude living with 2 kids and 1 woman. I hear him screaming all day long but only whining in fear or pain from others. Its very bad. You should definitely take matters into your own hands.  Calling the authorities is an absolute last resort.

White knighting your neighbors woman will change her whole life, she'll be so shocked that real men exsisted that she will leave the guy she's with and find a new relationship with a real man.

Call the cops. Repeatedly. The guy doesn't think he's doing anything wrong (and it's likely he will never change) but you need to have this documented. If the cops show up enough they'll at least move.

Arrive at yety another domestic they dont really want to be at....They talk it over with the family involved, all is resolved, leave, come back next week, same shit again, leave...

See where Im going with this...domestic disturbances rarely result in police doing anything.

Sort it out yourself....and it doesn't have to result in violence...

If you're calm, reasonable and articulate the police will respond... "I'd like to report a domestic disturbance...it's been going on for over an hour and it's escalating... "I'm concerned for the woman and the kids..."  Be specific in what you tell them with what you've heard. You may want to report him to child protective services as well.  You may also want to start documenting it with dates and times in case you want to get out of a lease or if social services gets involved.

I grasp the concern for the family and the inconvenience of the noise, but how do you strategically engage in conversation with them about it?
