Bjj blue belt v Tyson
« on: September 06, 2017, 01:33:37 AM »
I've seen on another forum some bjj guy claiming any bjj blue belt wouldve beaten up a prime enraged Tyson. What you think? Blue belt?!?!

Presuming that Tyson isn't going to get so enraged on the ground that he'll bite the face of the BJJ guy.

to answer this question we need to establish the difference in skills between a blue and a black belt and whether its necessary against tyson.

i suggest that it is not.

i suggest that against tyson all you need to do is to trip him and be able to engage in some kind of choke on the ground.

a white belt should be able to do this with minimum of training.

There was a time when this thread would have been nominated for dumbest thread of the year. Then there was a time when it would have been nominated for dumbest thread of the month. Then came the time when it would have been nominated as dumbest thread of the week. Now.....

Tyson is an athlete. It would be hard to get him down. If he stood for one minute he would knock you out. Most fights in the UFC are now striking matches because the take down defense has gone to another level.

Maybe tyson would use mayweathers tactic.  Turn around and bend over when the other guy comes at you.

Nope, Mike would still slaughter most BJJ guys. And I say this as a keen BJJ trainer myself. How many guys ( Ryan Hall as example ) have we seen who are amazing on the ground, but cant punch for shit? That's the majority of BJJ guys. And as we know, Mike Tyson is going to come in swinging at a pace most guys aint even getting a look in at a takedown.

Dumb thread, but theres your answer.

And as said above, if you take Tyson down, don't expect him to just lay there in guard  ::)

I practiced martial arts for many years. The style the practitioner performs nor the color of their belt has anything to do with the outcome of any given fight. The outcome of any given figbt is determined by the heart of fhe fighter. The fighter either has it in him or not. Its all individual, the same as no two exacted ranked black belt holders are truly equal to each other in a fight unless they havd fought each other many times.

basically youre saying that tyson has a punchers chance at knocking the bjj guy out as he's either coming for a take down, or counter tyson with a take down.

considering that tyson went longer than 1 round in more than half his fights, the chance that a bjj guy gets him to the ground at some point in the first round is pretty good.

The heart of the fighter doesn't mean that much.  You could want it more than anyone in the world but you will never beat a UFC fighter like Brock Lesnar.  Fight abikity is a combination of genetics, proficiancy at the art as well as the practicality of the art you are using.  Once you get into a fight and realize that your adrenaline will only take you so far, you realize that all these other factors come into play.  The same holds true for any sport.  Trying hard and really wanting it will get you better, but wont get you past your genetic limits.

heart is very important but skill, talent,  speed, quickness, punching power play greater roles

especially skill

Yeah, I dunno

I think the problem is

Tyson will just eat you

So you n eed to make sure he can't taste any of you when you're choking him.
