the rock is the highest paid star in  the world.

Difficult to believe since his movies are barely watchable.  They're like cinematic McDonalds.

But McD also makes a ton of money.  Seems what people really want is a Big Mac and a Dwayne Johnson movie.

Pain & Gain sucked too.

In fact, all his roles suck because he's not a film actor by temperament.  He is however the most entertaining wrestling personality in history, and clearly found his niche in the WWF/E. I can understand branching out into Hollywood and wanting a less physically demanding profession but I still think he secretly hates what he does and wishes he could go back to himself during the Attitude Era. Making 10,000 stand up and worship you as they hang onto your every word must feel better than playing out a bunch of stupid lines in a kid's movie for obese audiences that don't get your jokes.

I've been in and out of the movie business for more years than most GetBiggers have been alive (excluding WES and a couple of you other older farts) and I still manage to be amazed when one or more of the individuals I have either met or have know for a good number of years somehow gets to be a major Hollywood star.

I've met Dwayne before he became THE ROCK and while it's great to see him doing so damn well .... it's still a major surprise.

Take a look at his movies that are underway ....

Fighting with My Family (completed)
Skyscraper (filming)
Rampage (post-production)
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (completed)
Big Trouble in Little China (announced)
Black Adam (announced)
Doc Savage (announced)
Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon (announced)
Jungle Cruise (pre-production)
San Andreas 2 (announced)
The Janson Directive (announced)

I've never been an actor fan in the least and now only see a motion picture when family members are involved or if the story-line appears to be something I may be interested in.

I now hate super-hero movies because there have been too damn many and the actors who portray the super-heros look nothing like the original comic book characters as drawn by the original artists.

And I think JUMANGI with is the Rock's next feature film will be a flop... just based on my seeing the prevue.

And just to start a battle .... I don't like Mickey Rourke .... but I can't explain why. It's mystery!

PS to the above ...... In the past I have encouraged a good number of NPC male and female competitors to make an attempt to sign up with a reliable motion picture agency simply due to the fact that they physically resemble the super hero characters as the original comic book illustrators originally intended.

And it's easy to see the importance of super hero movies today!

But it's not easy to get signed by the WILLIAM MORRIS AGENCY ... In fact its very difficult but not IMPOSSIBLE and with this new found interest in competitive muscle events  and general interest in 'physical perfection' as seen throughout the internet ..... Hollywood will soon take notice and start searching for new faces, new bodies, new talent, etc.

I have recommended that a good number of impressive contenders do their best to get a reliable agency's interests ...... Especially a good number of the female contenders who can outclass and outlook the vast majority of today's major motion picture 'stars' .... but I have yet to see their faces on the  silver screen.

If I was going to start over I'd definitely build an agency representing the contenders who appear to have the potential to become a major motion picture star.

I believe that in the good old days .... Gold's Gym Venice had an office set up to represent various gym members for motion picture work. If anyone is interested... I'll check that out.

Or better yet .... Maybe one of you old time Gold's members can give us all a historical update on that subject matter.

Cut and print!

And thanks for watching!

I think that in the good old days, Gold's gym was represented by Ken "Sprayed" Sprague in the gay porn industry.  Such boofoo luminaries as Ric Drasin, Bob Birdson, Chris Dickerson and more.  No thanks.  Hollyweird is full of this sort of thing for men and women.

I got there in the mid-70s and they were open about the steroids but not all of them did the G4P as they liked women.  But some were hustlers (which is why we all laughed at the made for TV film entitled "The Hustler of Muscle Beach").  Only the laziest would do that shit.  Either that or as Drasin is said to have claimed, he was blackmailed (maled?) into it.

On top of all that, who in their right mind would or even could, dare challenge the great and powerful, all natural Mike O'Hearn for any role?

Not 1 good film listed there.  Faster is my favourite film of his but still wasn't what it could have been

Steve Reeves as well. Not a huge Hollywood star, but you can't forget guys like John Cena who's made a killing while still somewhat resembling a bodybuilder

I wonder if all the extreme dieting that he does for roles will eventually catch up to him.

...And...?  Does that make you, you know..... sorta fear, for anything...?

Arnold too, I heard he turned down the lead role for Forrest Gump  :D

That's too bad.  I heard that Kevin Levrone's acting chops made him a lock for the Forrest Gump remake.  He's landed the part of Lt. Dan (originally played by Gary Sinise)....

SILVER, No .... I have never met NICK ,,, but I have heard of him.

Probably have never met NICK because he came into the picture long, long after I was involved.

Interesting story about the stuntman business if anyone is interested.

It  goes back to way before Universal Studios built the theme park and a short while before the original PLANET OF THE APES during the days when some of the Stunt Association pioneers used to "barrow" motion picture making equipment when the studio closed down on Friday evening ... and get it back where it belonged before it was noted as missing on early Monday.

If you watch late night movies on TV ... you most likely seen one of motorcycle movies.

They were bad but eventually got popular overseas in the Asian market and throughout US drive-in theaters.

And then came those weekend made monster flicks.

Fun times back in them good old days.

It  may be a tough nut to crack getting into the Hollywood motion business, but in my family alone there are five members in the Screen Actor's Guild  ...one of whom works constantly on many films already mentioned on the GetBig Board while the others are still in school but available when the right roles come up.
