Honestly I think as a former stunt guy, I would love to hear your opinion on the way stunts are being done today compared to the more realistic stunts of 20 plus years ago. My pet peev is how actors "claim" to do ALL their own stunts in a movie which is not entirely the truth I assume due to insurance purposes

as per movie critics I find alot of times the media outlets will send someone who is not a fan of genres to critique a movie.

For horror flicks I always liked the Arrow foir example because him and the people critiquing the movies of this genre are horror fans. In my opinion horror movies are meant to be cheesy like alot of juvenile humour flicks(adam sandlers for one) and are totally lost on critics both pro and amateur because you are supposed to enjoy flicks as a guilty pleasure.

NELSON, You included a good number of "indirect questions" there as though you already know the answers but I'll try to provide accurate answers to the questions you are really asking. (Respectfully stated of course!)

Regarding your question regarding the stunts of today as compared to the stunts of those good old days .....

I'm sorry that I don't keep nor maintain any statistics regarding stunt injuries nor stunt deaths but I can "probably assure" you that injuries and deaths were more prevalent back in them good old days than they have been during these modern times.

There are a number of diverse reasons for that but for the sake of brevity I'll just discuss basic stuff based  only on personal experience and things I learned from more important stunt guys on various sets.

Will get back to this ASAP. Right now starving relatives are knocking on the front door.

Cheesy horror is its own goofy subgenre: Evil Deads, Chucky/Freddy bullshit, Cabin in the Woods, etc. SO not to be confused with legit horror, like The Exorcist, The Shining, Session 9 and such. Zero laughs here, as it should be. The campy stuff is really more comedy than horror, and Shaun of the Dead's probably the only one what did funny right.

I agree that there are various genres of horror, but I do stand by 2 things....

1-I was referring to CHEESY horror and other flicks

2- 100% of all movies are there for suspending your disbelief/belief for a couple hours enjoying a guilty pleasure.

Looking at movies/music/news/books as anything other than entertainment take the real joy out of living because 99% of what we read, watch, listen to is fantasy, especially the non fiction stuff.

My point...enjoy the fucking thing whether cheesy or high art. In other words whether you like it or not BOTH the Exorcist and Jason Lives: Friday The 13th Part V1 are both classics in their own subgenre right.
