Further, physical abuse or sexual abuse, etc, can lead to substantial speech-language delays. Its quite clear that there are tons of environmental factors that contribute to children's development.

Similarly, although we may be hardwired to form in-groups and out-groups, we are not "slaves" to this biological function. Environmental circumstances will often play a huge role in determining how strongly you cling to an in our out-group.
