The Pledge of Allegiance was written by a christian socialist named Francis Bellamy which used to be recited while giving the Bellamy Salute

If one more person on this board quotes this, I'm gonna go on a murderous rampage.

But it's true.

That is the cornerstone of the American constitution.

Agreed. Teacher was way out of line.

If I had children, I would not allow anyone to lay a hand on them.

Voltaire never actually said or wrote that

I guess you could say that people in this country have died defending the constitution but I doubt anyone has specifically chosen to die defending the speech of someone they didn't agree with (just a guess based on human nature)

You're taking the quote too literal. The absurdity of the quote is used to present how important freedom of speech is.

Don't matter who said it.

It still stands true regardless of the author.

The quote stands up for itself, despite authorship.

it does matter if you're calling it a quote and attributing it to someone

again, I get the concept of defending free speech but I also doubt that any person truly chose to die to specifically defend the speech of someone they didn't agree with.  Other than dying in a war to defend the country (hence defend The Constitution) how exactly would that situation even occur  (i.e. one person defending do the death the speech of someone they didn't agree with)

This site, is now predominately filled with mentally ill people, having conversations with themselves. It was always there (in the background) but now that is mainly what drives the traffic here these days.

Rock Bottom.

I agree fully with you.  I remember a certain fellow up here who faked his own death in a car crash and posted about sucking another man's dick for admiration.  Sick fucking bastard....

Anyone hear this story?11 year old says he doesn't stand or acknowledge the pledge of allegiance at school and it's his right, happened in Detroit and teacher snatched him out of his seat and made him stand.Boo fucking Hoo kid should have to fucking stand or get the fuck out of this country.God damn fucking filth want to live here and not respect tradition,Well go to your own shithile country and do as you please.Have some fucking respect for those who have given their life's for this country for you to sit here and disrespect it.I fucking can't take much more of this.Teacher was suspended.Teacher should have smacked the fucking kid and Been given a raise.

Number 1: free country

Number 2: why is this news?

Number 3: in high school I remember a couple kids here and there over the years not standing. It wasn't a big deal. Teacher was annoyed a little, but everyone went along

Number 4: the god part should be removed, but that's a whole other issue. I stand for the pledge, but the god part is laughable in 2017

Number 5: teacher should be suspended for sure, if you look at this from a logical and non-emotional conservatard view. The school was right to suspend. It's a dumb kid who has "ideals". Fuck what he thinks or doesn't think. It's a shit head kid. Leave him be

in summary

the quote is not even real and it's absurd to think anyone is going to defend to the death anyone specific persons speech, especially when they don't even agree with it

seriously, there are very few things in life that people will defend to the death and this certainly isn't on the list

fuck off you commie bastard

why do a keep calling me a commie

I can call you a queer and everyone knows that's true (and I don't give a shit)

so why are you calling me a commie

Given that you've probably been on welfare, food stamps and unemployment at some time in your life you're probably the biggest (and maybe fattest) commie on this board

I don't talk to myself to make me feel better. Faking a death is a one-off mistake. Living multiple personalities on the internet is a sickness.

Getbig would be nothing without the ramblings of mentally challenged, racist, and homophobic gimmicks. Sure, there are some legitimately good people here, but they are definitely an endangered species these days.

You pretended to be your own brother and talked about Shaun in third-person whilst faking a car-crash and a death, that's loonybin behavior Chaffeenator!
