Good, lets hope the decline continues, and NFL eventually ceases to exist--though, this will probably not happen in my lifetime. It will be a momentous day when no one cares about football or other major sporting events.

You'd make a pretty shitty economist. But thats ok, the ones that lose businesses and jobs can just be subsidized by the government anyway...right?

We have existed long before sports was ever a thing.

If there were no sports, the human race would go on just fine. We would adapt. Not having sports would NOT be the downfall to society. You act as if the human race would cease to exist or not be able to function if sports no longer existed lol. The human race has adapted just fine to much worse conditions.

But whatever you have to tell yourself to convince yourself that sports are that important. :-\ :-\

Less major sports to watch, could mean more people actually doing something with their time, and also one less thing that politicians can use to distract the citizenry.

"Professional Sports" is a complete joke.  Its entertainment, expensive entertainment at that ,,  nothing else.

It's down again because the matchup sucked, the refs sucked and people are just bored with the NFL.

Less sports means less child development in the inner cities which means more crime, more murder, more drug use and addiction. Sometimes you just have to look unselfishly to see the positive impact that sports has.

Thats one of the major problems - instead of focusing on real life - like reading, math, academics, work, etc - many little morons think sports is a realistic approach for the rest of their lives.

You have real difficulty sticking to the topic/conversation at hand, huh?

Nowhere did I say that we should get rid of sports at the childhood level. I am talking about sports at the ADULT, PROFESSIONAL LEVEL!! No one is saying to remove sports from childhood--we are saying removing PROFESSIONAL SPORTS, which occurs at the ADULT LEVEL. How many 5 year olds are professional sports stars?  ??? ??? Try to keep up with the conversation.

Keep sports for children--it does help with childhood development. Once they have developed the necessary cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral skills via sports, they can put that energy into something more worthwhile and useful (other than watching Sunday football). I say keep sports for the children and do away with sports at the professional level.

This! Coach's post is typical cuck white-coach-as-savior-in-inner-city drivel, as if most kids, rich or poor, shouldn't be focused on being decent people in adult life and who resort to murdering people if they can't play sports. Yeah, all those white immigrants off the boat at Ellis Island needed a chance to see if they could've made it to the big leagues but despite some criminal elements didn't commit murder or abuse drugs en made, but in some cases literally broke their bodies to earn damn livings got themselves and family.

The condtions in the black "community" is due to the democratic party and a vastly expanded welfare state in the 1960s which destroyed the black family. Before this expansion of the welfare state, 22 percent of black children were raised with only one parent. By 1985, 67 percent of black children were raised with either one parent or no parent. One of the few bright spots for black children in American ghettos have been some charter schools that have educated these children to levels equal to, and in some cases better than, those in affluent suburbs. You would think that this would be welcomed by those who are so ready to do “favors” for blacks but you would be dead wrong. Democrats who have been in charge of most cities with sizable black populations, for decades, are on record opposing the spread of charter schools. So is the NAACP. That is a de facto declaration of moral bankruptcy in both cases, It is a question of promoting one’s own special interests, while offering “favors” to blacks. The Democrats’ special interest is in serving the teachers’ unions, which oppose charter schools and support Democrats financially. The NAACP’s special interest is in serving the same donors — and in keeping ghetto schools controlled by racial activists, as part of their turf.

For all the good that social media can accomplish, it is mainly being used for all of the wrong reasons.

The world (if you use twitter/facebook) has become one big message board, with which the impressionable (and often stupid) masses, get front row seats to a star basketball calling the POTUS a bum.

It is exactly like Getbig x's a billion. Feel free to say whatever you want, but don't be surprised when it can have profound repercussions.

Look at Kevin Durant recently using a gimmick account (on Twitter) to talk shit about his coach and ex teammates.

before making such bold statements, you need to think of how many oiled up glutes in thongs you'd be denying folks if this was implemented

Hey SF1900, you do realize that cultures have had "professional athletes" for as long as we have recorded history. Many of the best Roman Gladiators were paid very well, and treated like superstars (much like boxing and mma today)

Have you ever heard of the Hippodrome?

It was a stadium mainly used for chariot races during the Roman Empire. There were replicas built across the empire. They had teams/factions, which included lots of bets being made by "fans". The best of the best chariot racers were some of the richest, and most adored people of the Roman Empire.

Not to mention the Olympics, which were invented by the ancient Greeks, and to this day, is the pinnacle of professional athletics, worldwide.

Sports are as human as it gets.
