Realistic weight gain as a natty after 10-15 yrs of Gym
« on: October 03, 2017, 08:35:42 AM »
Was thinking today after dieting down a lil, that my overall weight gain is only give or take 10 lbs of muscle tissue after 10+ years of training. That's pretty lame, or maybe that's actually realistic. I know lots of BS out there like gain 30lbs in 30 days, put on 100lbs of muscle in 3 yrs, blah blah, magazine ad or article in MD, etc.

I have played with small cycles in the past like 400mg of test for 12 weeks, and currently on TRT, but even with trt I don't think I've put on new muscle other than body comp changes slightly and look fuller. But I did 10 years or more with no drugs.

how much actual muscle (not weight) have you gained?

every person had a different body make up so eating high protein and carbs split twice a day works best for me .... and as you get older you will have to tweak your food and training..

Since i started, at 19yo, i have put 33lbs natural, then gained another 33 when i started using low doses around 30yo.
Now, at 41, i weight 44lbs more than when i was 19yo. I am still very lean, always has been.

This is one of those hard to answer questions. But, 30 - 40 pounds over the course of natural lifter's career would be a good range for most people. Granted some of it will be invisible to the scale, but not the mirror, as it will be body composition change rather than scale moving weight gain.

Offhand, I floated in the low to middle 30lb + range after 10 - 12 years.

I agree with this number but consider also that there is a natural increase in muscle mass from 20-40, so only a portion of that increase is likely due to training

I think the 10-15lbs is around the norm.  Most people see the majority of their gains in the first year to two years and then basically stay stagnant for the rest of their lives (me included lol).

If you do everything correctly from the moment you start training, then much of your gains will come within the first year. By the third year, you'd be close to maxing out. Everything after that would be minimal and mostly just changes to your conditioning.

no clue. haven't been there for 10+yrs. probably $60/hr min, up to 100/hr, and paid up front. say, like 10 sessions at 100/session = $1,000 prepaid. depends on how busy he is. he may do 60/hr for timeslots that aren't popular. like 1pm-3pm or evenings around 7pm or something.

People greatly overestimate the amount of lean muscle you can put on natty. It’s only about 5 pounds total.

If you think I’m lying just ask yourself where exactly is this muscle going. How much can you put on your delts, your pecs, your forearms, your biceps ETC?

That's a good amount of Lean muscle to gain.

Started training at 14 weighing around 55kg, weigh around 112kg now but feel had not gotten colitis at 13 probably would have weighed about 100kg naturally without training, when finally got it cured with surgery age 27 appetite was massive for 6 months or so after and within a few months was around 105kg from 80 or so after surgery, bowel nurse told me was probably supposed to be this weight but never could through illness till after surgery

from 14-17 i went from 90lbs to 165-175lbs(i forget), that's nearly doubling my bodyweight before my first cycle.

making a general statement or estimate about how much a drug-free trainer (nobody's "natural". you're using legal supplements? that's not "natural", you're just drug-free) can gain.

the trainer may be eating not nearly enough or eating the wrong macro #'s, etc... simple google search can pop up the studies on nutrition. one study shows 3 groups. 1 group .... i'll type this later. ive gotta go. lol

A lot of the weight gain people are describing here is simply growing into your adult body. You would’ve gained much of that weight anyway without even lifting.

Funny how no one seems to have an answer for the question of how much weight you put on your biceps. In fact, all the years I’ve been into bodybuilding I’ve never heard anyone break weight gain  down according to the individual muscles. I guess that wouldn’t do much for fart powder sales.

I started lifting at 20 for rugby, I did have some weights at home from being 16 but I didnt use them much.

I have gone from 145lb to 200lb onstage weight in 10 years, havent gained that much since.

Around 60lb of lean mass in 10 years.

oops, forget that...not natty...

lean tissue mass natty is probably around half that.

I respectfully disagree.  Lifetime natty here and saw decent gains in my first years of training, but it was about 5-6 years in when I "exploded" in making substantial gains.

I agree with Man of Steele. I am a natty and got my biggest gains in my 4-5 year of training. I gained about 30lbs of mass since I started training, the last 15 in my 4th or 5th years. I think it has to do with hormone levels too I was 22 at this time.

As a natural I gained 40 lbs in 2 yrs but haven't gotten any heavier since (about 5-6 yrs in). Muscle quality though is at its best though.
